State-Of-the-Art in rear projection HDTVs use light emitting diodes (LEDs) to illuminate a full 1080p image, replacing projection lamps that burn out over time and must be periodically replaced. Other benefits include: deeper, richer, more saturated color than possible with current projection lamps and instant on (bulbs take up to one minute to reach full illumination).
