Why Buy a 1080p display?
The sharpest, highest quality HDTVs are rated at 1080p resolution, defined as a display that shows all the detail within high definition broadcasts and the new high def disc formats, HD DVD and Blu-ray.
1080p Resolution
A 1080p display will put 2,073,600 picture elements (pixels) on the screen with 1920 pixels across and 1080 vertically. All 1080p displays are in the widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio.
Displays that are capable of 1080p are LCD flat panels, DLP rear and front projectors and plasma panels. Few HDTVs today are available as 1080p displays. Most HDTVs are 720p or 768p with half or less resolution than the 1080p.
